- Cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Application Procedure
The student applicant must type a one to two page letter addressed to the Sociology Department Scholarship Committee, and forward a copy of their AAR. The letter should address your qualifications for the scholarship, and outline your accomplishments at Boise State. Note academic achievement, honors received, University leadership positions held, and organizations, activities or community services projects you have been involved in.

Dr. Steven Patrick Memorial Scholarship
- Sociology Endowed Scholarship
- This is a needs-based scholarship intended to enable students with good academic standing to complete their studies.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Student applicant must be a Sociology major attending full-time during the year the award is made.
- Student applicant may be at any level.
- Student applicant must demonstrate financial need.
- Cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

Osborne Sociology Scholarship

June Peterson Sociology Award
- Sociology Endowed Scholarship
- This is awarded to a student who plans upon graduation to work in the area of community or public service to women and have demonstrated leadership skills through participation in sociological experiences.
Eligibility Requirements
- Student applicant must be a Sociology, Social Science or Ethnic Studies major attending full-time during the year the award is made.
- Student applicant may at any academic level.
- Cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The student applicant must type a one to two page letter addressed to the Sociology Department Scholarship Committee, and forward a copy of their AAR. The letter should address your qualifications for the scholarship, and outline your accomplishments at Boise State. Note academic accomplishments, honors received, University leadership positions held, and organizations, activities or community services projects you have been involved in. Include a statement regarding your career plans upon graduation, and how these tie into the intent of the award.

Mexican American Studies Scholarships
There are four scholarships awarded annually
- Jose Valdez Scholarship
- Casa Valdez, Data Cabling Service, Metalcraft, Inc. Scholarship
- Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, Humberto Fuentes Scholarship
- Estella Zamora Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements
- Student applicant must be enrolled in the Mexican-American Studies Minor (there is no class standing requirement). The student applicant can be enrolled in any Boise State University major, and can accept other scholarships during the academic year of this scholarship award.
- Student applicant must have a migrant-farm worker background (but it does not have to be immediate family).
- Student applicant must have a reasonable need for financial assistance.
- Cumulative overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Application Procedure
The student applicant must type a one to two page essay responding the eligibility requirement listed above. The student should discuss specifically their family’s ethnic and social background. The student would be advised to address their social service work and their university accomplishments. Any honors/awards should be noted along with a discussion of your future goals, be it occupational or educational. An AAR must be included, as well as two letters of recommendation. The letters can be from your employers, Boise State University faculty, staff, and/or administrators. The evaluation committee recognizes that the applicants are undergraduate students; therefore, it does not expect an extensive list of accomplishments. The application procedure is not designed to deter any eligible student from applying. Several freshmen in the C.A.M.P program have been recipients of these scholarships. Please note that one application makes you eligible for all four scholarships.

Martin Luther King / Meredyth Burns Community Service Scholarship
Martin Luther King and Meredyth Burns were committed to the common good and worked courageously and tirelessly for the well-being of all citizens. To commemorate their lives, this scholarship is to be presented to the Boise State University student who has made the most significant contributions to the university and to the community.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior at Boise State University.
- Applicant’s cumulative GPA must be 2.5 or higher.
- Applicant must be nominated (by faculty member, staff person, or self)
The primary purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a student who has worked for student organizations, who has volunteered and worked for community agencies involved in assisting the disadvantaged and improving the ethnic relations in Idaho. This brief statement cannot enumerate on all the possible worthy activities that students might list in their essays, but is merely suggestive of the type of work that will be considered as important for this application
Application Procedure
The student applicant must type a one to two-page essay responding to the eligibility requirements listed above. Any honors/awards should be noted along with a discussion of your future goals, be it occupational or educational. A transcript must be included, as well as two letters of recommendation. The letters can be from your employer(s) and/or Boise State University faculty.

Osher Re-Entry Scholarship
Through the program, Boise State will award about 25 scholarships, ranging up to $1,250 for part time students and $2,500 for full time students. Final selection of scholarship recipients will be competitive. The scholarship is not renewable; however, those chosen for the scholarship may re-apply at the end of the academic year. “Our sincere thanks go to the Bernard Osher Foundation for their support of re-entry students at Boise State University,” Wheeler said.
Eligibility Requirements
- Being admitted as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at Boise State University in pursuit of a first baccalaureate degree
- Being a reentry student, typically a student age 25 to 50 whose college studies were interrupted for at least five years (doesn’t have to five consecutive years)
- Enrolling primarily in face-to-face courses
- Having a 3.0 cumulative college GPA
- Demonstrating financial need by completing the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid by June 1
- Completing the online Application for the Boise State Osher Reentry Scholarship by June 1: Osher Reentry Scholarship
- Plan to participate in the workforce for a significant period of time subsequent to graduation
